Research for Minesweeper BTSC-410 Vzryv

The BTSC-410 Vzryv was en route in the Black Sea southeast of Constanta with the Romanian minelayer NMS Admiral Murgescu (812 tons), when the Soviet vessel was torpedoed and sunk by U-19 at 05.22 hours on 2 Sep, 1944. She was the last victim of the U-boats in the Black Sea. Since Romania had only recently declared war on Germany (25 August), the Soviets accused the Romanian Navy of treachery and complicity in the sinking of this vessel, because the Romanian minelayer was not attacked. On 5 September, the Soviets cited this sinking as an excuse for the seizure of the Romanian fleet.

On the first day we will visit The National History and Archeology Museum of Constanta, The Sea Museum and The National Museum of Natural Science.  On the next day we will organize pool dives and sea dives for the kids depending on their abilities.

Volunteers are more than welcomed, are needed!!!

Research for the Leader Moskva

This is a one month expedition dedicated to the research of the ww2 shipwreck of the Russian lider ”Moskva”. During the naval battle of 25-26 June 1941, the leader “Moskva” and the leader “Kharkov” part of the task force “Vorosilov” aproched Romanian coast and opened fire on Constanta harbor. Romanian destroyers “NMS Regina Maria” and “NMS Marasti” engage the enamy and together with the “Tirpitz” coastal battery, manage to stop and turned them away. During the retreat, leader “Moskva” suffered a great explosion, broke in two parts and sank very quickly. The couse of explosion is anknown. Romanian version is that “Moskva” hit a mine in the Tuzla barrage and the unofficial Soviet version is that “Moskva” was hit by a torpido fiered by mistake from a Soviet submarine.  Romanian navy resqued from the water 69 survivors including the commander A.B. Tuhov.

International Cleanup Day

International Cleanup Day, the largest volunteer event on behalf of the marine environment, is held each year on the third Saturday in September.  It’s a global event that inspires people to remove rubbish and debris from the world’s beaches and waterways, to identify the sources of debris and to change the behaviours that cause pollution. This year we’ll double this event in the begining of the season because of the enormous quantities of debries witch acumulates during the winter time.

Divers and nondivers alike will meet to clean up the beach and the underwater portion of Capul Turcului in Eforie Sud. In this event we olso relay on the strong support of the volunteears from Eco Asist and Eforie Town Hall.

For the nondivers volunteears participating in this event we have a surprise! They will have the oportunity to try scubadiving and enjoy the underwater world they helped to protect.

Biological survey of Neptun – Olimp area

This is a one month expedition for identifying associations of plant and animal organisms with the highest risk of population reduction in southern part of the Romanian Black Sea coast.
